Winners!

The AVPA (Australian Video Producers Association) held their annual 2007 video awards on Wednesday 5th September in Melbourne. We are thrilled to announce that we have been notified that we have dominated the wedding videography category coming first place in the following areas;

Wedding Short Form (Creative presentation, non traditional format, new vogue, arty etc. Under 50min Duration)

Wedding Traditional (Single or Multi camera coverage, covering all aspects of the occasion)

For those who are unfamiliar with these awards, this is the highest accolade that can be received for wedding videography in Australia. This is something that our business has been striving for since we started operation in 2001. However being self confessed perfectionist and so critical of our own work, we had not yet entered in past years. We are now so glad we made the last minute decision to enter these 2007 awards.

A big thank you and congratulations go out to the following couples whose wedding videos we submitted that won us the awards.

Jeremy and Rachel 7th October 2006 – Wedding Traditional category

Noel and Rainda – 10th June 2006 - Wedding Short Form category

Thank you very much to everyone including our fellow video producers for your constant support and inspiration, we cannot describe how absolutely elated we are feeling for winning these prestigious awards. With renewed inspiration with our many new ideas and techniques we cannot wait for the 07/08 wedding season.

Feedback to melt our hearts :)

After a long hard day recently, which involved software crashing and Kristen yelling at the monitors, we were absolutely delighted to receive the following feedback out of the blue from one of our past brides. We shot Peter and Zoe's wedding in October last year and they hadn't had a chance to give us any written feedback as yet.

Zoe is actually the current face of our business featured in the top header and on our current business cards. She is a naturally stunning woman however herself and Peter were very nervous about being videoed on their day, which is a very common concern to couples.

This email really touched us and every time Kristen reads it she still gets teary. Thank you Zoe and Peter for taking the time to make us smile.

Hi Kristen & Craig,

We have been meaning to get back to you with an email to thank you for our amazing wedding video. We know we have told you verbally how amazed we were with the final product but we just wanted to put it down on "paper" for you both.

We can't even truly describe the emotions we felt when we first put the DVD on ... As soon as it began, even when we saw the titles with our names, we were honestly blown away! To have our whole day preserved in such a beautiful & professional way, is honestly the best gift we could ever have received. You captured every moment of our our day & we are so very happy that we have it to look back on for many years to come. You both have an amazing ability & gift to capture the true emotion & love between two people & then present it in a video form. We are so happy & thankful that we came across you both when choosing our videographer. You surpassed even our greatest expectations!

We also want to thank you for your support on our wedding day. You know that we were both very nervous about being filmed, but you made us feel totally at ease! Kristen - you are such a warm & friendly person. You kept me smiling & laughing all day ... thank you!

We wish you all the best for the future & know that you will continue to
touch people's lives with your amazing talents in your industry.

Kindest regards, Zoe & Peter

The Prime Minister's Community Business Partnership Awards

Recently Craig and I attended The Prime Minister's Community Business Partnership Awards for Western Australia. We were nominated in conjunction with Extra Edge Services with whom we produced a video in 2006 on the pros and cons of running your own business, which we not only produced but starred in as well! We were finalists in the category of small business however we were unsuccessful in winning, this time!

It was very cool to see our name against some prestigious businesses such as BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.

It was a lovely awards luncheon as it was held at the Sheraton Hotel. We received a stunning fish main meal and a delectable chocolate cake dessert, yummo, we certainly left there a few kilos heavier!

The Wedding Workshop

Last Wednesday we attending The Wedding Workshop held at Tompkins on the Swan. It was really a fantastic experience talking to a group of bride's and groom's, mothers, sisters and friends who were all there for one reason, to plan their wedding! What I loved about the workshop was that it wasn't to promote the vendors there but to give the guests valuable information for when they have to book suppliers for their own wedding.

Craig and I have been in the wedding industry now for 6 years and have videoed hundreds of them and there was so much information that we didn't even know. It was a great experience for us as well as we are not used to speaking in front of an audience. We are usually hiding away behind our cameras so to say I was shaking like a leaf before I went up to speak is an understatement!

We did however get wonderful feedback from the audience and many commented on our promo video that we played to show what a professional wedding video looks like. Craig and I felt very elated after that!

Cathrin from CD Weddings was the organizer and she did a fantastic job in planning the event. Each couple received a free Your Brides Guide to WA magazine when they entered which in itself is worth $20, so you get most of your money back right there. However my favourite part of the night had to be at the end when Kakes by Karen was giving out free samples from her gorgeous wedding cakes. Oh my, lucky Craig was there to drag me away otherwise I'd still be there slowly turning into a massive whale!
